Globalization : The Process of Global Interaction

Human society is composed of individuals. With the pace of change and dependence on each other for survival, there has developed a complex relationship between these individuals. The interdependence and interconnectedness between human beings have increased social interaction. Likewise, the process of civilization has brought human society to a complex phase of life. Today, people are being more busy and hardworking. Unlike the people in early centuries, people of morden societies have been able to communicate in a more easier and effective manner. Today, an individual can exchange his thoughts with another person within no seconds even if he is thousands of miles away. In this sense we can say that a primitive society has changed into a complex society. Due to the growing population and the need for greater interaction human relationships have come accross geographical boarders.

For example: A remote village of Nepal directly or indirectly need to rely on the petroleum production in Iraq in order to run their vehicles.

Similarly, a society depends on another society in one way or the other. This dependency has broaden to a larger form and covered the whole world. Thus a globe has turned into a larger form of society, known as global society.

Likewise, the interrelationship between individuals is maintained with the help of cooperation of exchange of views, ideas, assistance etc which requires communication between those members. Thus, the communication between the members of the society makes social interaction. And according to the size or society the communication takes place at different levels. The exhange of information takes place from intrapersonal communication to interpersonal communication and similarly interpersonal to group to organizational to mass communication. Due to the growing or complex form of human society the communication is assisted by artificial mediaums which can cover the mass audience at a time.
For example : In urban society communication process is so much dependent on mass media that an event happening in one family is known by their neighbours only when it is transmitted by mass media.
This complexity has brought the process of communication into a greater level. Thus, mass communication has been playing significant role on directing human society towards guided future.

With the need of time, communication mediums are being more advanced. Modern tools and technologies have made mass media more conviennt, faster and effective. Thus to assist mass communication mass media have been established. According to the need, these media are being advanced and developed. Information technology helped the world seem a single society.

Finally, a phenomenon has evolved that has existence of global communication known as globalization. It is the process of assimilation of different cultures together. Sometimes the dominant cultures is emitted by the people of primitive cultures due to different reasons. Acculturation is also a significant example of globalization. Global media have brought people of different places together and thus helped in the process of globalization. On the other hand Mass media are directley effected and dependent on globalization.

In this respect, it is a two way process :

1. Globalization is possible due to mass media : Mass media like film media, Radio, TV or Newspaper all transmitt infromation from one culture to another. And people of democratic nations find it easier to follow new culture or life style which provides them more freedom and make their life more convinent. In every sectors like economy, cuture, social behaviors etc globalization plays significant role.

2. Mass media gets advanced due to globalization : Due to globalization the area, coverage and contents of media are highly effected. Modern tools and technologies are discovered which fulfills the need of growing audience. The target audience keeps on changing with the diversity in culture, size and geographical regions. Thus mass media also changes with the pace of globalization.

In this way globalization and global media are interrelated to each other. According to Marshall Mcluhan the concept of global media has made world just a village which is accessible to people of all over the world.
